"She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands." Proverbs 31:13
The ideal wife as described in Proverbs 31 was not lazy, but it is even a step beyond that. "Worketh willingly with her hands" meant not only that she worked, but she did so in pleasure. So many times, we find people grudgingly going to work each day to pay the bills. Others remain idle waiting for the "perfect" job or career to open up. While it isn't sinful to try to find work to match our talents and desires, it is more of a matter of attitude. Whether or not I am doing my ideal job, God wills us to be content.
"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." Philippians 4:11
"Let your conversations be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5
This does not mean we cannot have dreams, but we should be happy with what we have been given and enjoy it. In addition, everything we do is to the glory of God, so we should be pleased in all our works for the Lord, which include the menial daily tasks that takes care of our family.
"...whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." I Corinthians 10:31
