"House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the Lord." Proverbs 19:14
Wouldn't you like to say that you are a gift from God to your husband? Here is the description of the Hebrew word used as prudent listed in Strong's Concordance: A primitive root; to be (causeatively make or act) circumspect and hence intelligent: - consider, expert, instruct, prosper, (deal) prudent (-ly), (give) skill (-ful), have good success, teach, (have, make to) understand (-ing), wisdom, (be, behave self, consider, make) wise (-ly), guide wittingly.
The prudent wife uses wisdom in her daily decisions and actions as well as giving wise counsel to others, including her husband.
"She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness." Proverbs 31:26
From where do we get wisdom? First and foremost, we get wisdom from God and his word."For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." James 1:5
We also receive wisdom from the counsel and reproof of others.
"The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame." Proverbs 29:15
"Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom." Proverbs 13:10
We should not build ourselves so high that we cannot heed the wise advice from others, because many times, that is where we can learn the most. Through that and avid study of God's word, we can become prudent wives that make God and our husbands proud.
